music
My musical work has been informed by a wide variety of pedagogies and experience. I studied music at NYU, focusing mostly on sound art and avant-garde computer music, but for a decade previous to that I studied the sitar with Ustad Ikhlaq Hussain Khan (find his masterful work here). Meanwhile, working at vanguard institutions like indie radio station WFMU and Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn opened me up to countless influences like free jazz, performance art, minimalism, Colombian funk, Balkan big bands, and so much more. I am currently working on a few projects, namely an album of ambient and electronic sounds (like the songs below), an album of acoustic guitar work inspired by folk artists like John Fahey and Ola Belle Reed as well as drawing on sitar techniques, and perhaps a beat CD because why not.
